Howard Turbyfill was born in Texas but later moved to California. He made the 1932 Olympic team as a 19-year-old, while he was living in Corona, California and working as a blacksmith. Turbyfill finished sixth, at the 1932 Olympics, although that was last place. He died in a car accident at a relatively young age.
