In an 18-year career with Virtus Bologna (1936-53), Gianfranco Bersani won four Italian titles in a row, 1946-49. He made his international début with the Italian side in 1947, and went on to win 23 caps, scoring 45 points. Bersani played five games at the 1948 London Olympics, when Italy finished 17th overall. He also competed at the 1951 European Championships in Paris, when the “Azzurri“ finished fifth.
