Albert Savonet was an active wrestler in his hometown of Liège, starting in the 1910s, following his two elder brothers Henri and Victor. The winner of the national championship title of his weight class in 1920, he was the sole wrestler from Liège to be named to the national wrestling delegation to compete at the Olympic Games held in Antwerpen. There, he was eliminated from the lightweight Greco-Roman competition after retiring from his match against Charles Frisenfeldt of Denmark.
