Ladik made his Olympic debut at the 1996 Olympic Games, finishing 8th in the heavyweight division. After moving to Canada from Ukraine in 1992, he joined the Montreal Wrestling Club, where he was coached by Victor Zilbermann and Rob Moore.
Representing Canada, he won 100 kg golds at the 1993 Maccabiah Games and 1994 Francophone Games, and placed 8th (130 kg, 1997), 9th (100 kg, 1995), and 11th (130 kg, 1998) at the World Championships.
As a junior in the Soviet Union, he was a three-time World Championships espoir (under-23) medalist: 1990 gold (100 kg), 1989 silver (90 kg), and 1991 bronze (100 kg); a two-time national 100 kg champion (1990, 1991), and a three-time junior national 88 kg champion (1987, 1988, 1989).
On 19 September 2025, Ladik underwent surgery, and the following day, he was placed in a medically induced coma, from which he did not regain consciousness.
