Biography

Verner Hetmar claimed his first Danish national title in the featherweight division (57 kg) in 1911. In the following year, he advanced to round five in his class where future gold medalist Kaarlo Koskelo from Finland threw him after 12 minutes. Hetmar won another three consecutive Danish Championships (1916-18). At the regional championships in København he earned the title in 1922 and was runner-up in 1921.
