Biography
André Buffière was a legend in French basketball, first as a player and then as a coach. He was capped 96 times for the French team between 1946-55, and won three medals (1949 silver, 1951/53 bronze) at the European Championships. He played for Lyon, Marseille, and Asvel, playing on six French championships teams. Buffière later became a coach initially for Villeurbanne. He served as the French national coach from 1957-64, leading them to a European bronze in 1959, and then coached l’Asvel and CSP Limoges, leading Limoges to the Korac Cup title in 1982 and1983, and the French title in 1983.
