Flyweight Harry Parker was one of two freestyle wrestlers from Bradford at the 1948 Olympics, bantamweight Ray Cazaux being the other. Both men returned to Yorkshire without a medal. Parker was the British flyweight champion four years in succession 1938-41. He captured the bantamweight crown in 1947 and then regained his flyweight title the following year, giving him a total of six British titles.
