Guy Schwan was a member of the Brighton YMCA when he wrestled in the bantamweight freestyle event of the 1908 Olympic Games in London, losing to fellow Briton Burt Sansom of the Olympic Amateur Wrestling Club. By 1931, he changed his surname to “Swan”, and was married with one son. He later worked as a merchant’s clerk. Schwan was the longest-lived of all the 1908 wrestling competitors, dying in 1984 at the age of 97.
