Biography

West German wrestler Ewald Tauer was eliminated in the third round of the Greco-Roman bantamweight class at the 1960 Roma Olympics. In 1962 he had his greatest sports moment when he won the bronze medal at the World Championships in Toledo, USA in the freestyle. In West Germany he won his first national title in 1955 as a youth and later senior bantamweight titles in 1960 (freestyle) and 1962 (Greco-Roman). He also earned five more podium finishes between 1960 and 1964. He also helped his team from ESV Neuaubing to win four national team championships.
