Fuat Yildiz was the adopted stepbrother of Rifat Yildiz. The Yildiz family came from Turkey but the brothers grew up in West Germany, and they received German citizenship in 1987. They are not twin brothers but rather unusually stepbrothers with the same date of birth. Fuat finished an unfortunate fourth in the Greco-Roman light-flyweight division at the 1992 Barcelona Olympics. However, he was German national champion five times in 1989-90 and 1994-96.
