Rezső Somogyi

Rezső Steiner began to wrestle with the Munkás Testedző Egyesület (MTE) club in 1907. At the unofficial 1910 European Championship, he placed third in lightweight. At the 1912 Stockholm Olympics, under the pseudonym Somogyi, he took part in the middleweight A category, where he lost his first two matches against the athletes who went on to finish first and second.

After the Olympics, Somogyi moved to Kaposvár where he founded the wrestling department of Kaposvári Athlétikai Klub. After returning home from military service in 1919, Steiner became the Vice President of MTE, and in 1920 became the leader of the Kaposvár AK wrestling division. The operation of the club was suspended in 1924 and, after that, he only concentrated on his profession as an upholsterer. He had been self-employed since 1922, and in 1925 founded his own company, named Steiner and Frank. Somogyi died in Budapest on 28 November 1975.
