József Tasnádi began to wrestle in the colors of Cegléd MOVE, but in 1923 moved to MAC. Between 1924 and 1933 he won three individual and three team national titles. He competed at the 1924 Paris Olympics, finishing fifth in Greco-Roman bantamweight. Tasnádi won the 1930 European Championship in freestyle at Bruxelles. In the early years of his career he competed under the names of Tindrenczl and Tiedrenszky, but in 1929 he officially took the name Tasnádi.
After finishing his career, Tasnádi was engaged in organizing professional wrestling and boxing competitions, in which he also competed several times.
