Biography

Eliezer Halfin wrestled lightweight freestyle at the 1972 München Olympics but was eliminated after the third round. Halfin was born in Rīga, Latvia, moving to Israel in 1969, and he became an Israeli citizen early in 1972. He also competed at the 1971 World Championships.

On 5 September 1972 Halfin was among the Israeli athletes and coaches who were assaulted by Black September terrorists in their apartment at 33 Connollystraße in the Olympic Village. Halfin was killed by the terrorists early the next morning at Fürstenfeldbruck Air Base, along with 10 other Israelis.
