A bank clerk from Merseyside, Richard Priestman competed for the Liverpool based Nethermoss Club. Whilst his performances in the individual events at his three Olympic Games were unimpressive he excelled as part of the three man British team and won bronze medals at the Seoul and Barcelona Olympics. As his competitive career waned he remained within the sport by working for an archery equipment firm and also as a well-respected coach. He coached England’s junior archers and in 2009 became head coach of the Bangladesh national squad. His Ukrainian born wife, Vladlena (née Kolesnykova) followed her husband as an Olympian and represented Britain at the Sydney Games.
