Trevor Davies was born in London, but was sent along with his younger brother to live in the United States under the United States Committee for the Care of European Children in 1940 at the age of 12. He returned to London in the mid-1940s and attended London Polytechnic where he played on the basketball team and also played for London in representative matches. Davies also served a brief stint in the British Army in 1946. Selected for the 1948 London Olympics along with teammates Bob Norris and Lionel Price, he played in all eight of Great Britain’s matches. In 1949, Davies was a member of the England team that played Scotland at Glasgow’s Kelvin Hall. He married Sheila Yates of London in 1953.
