Dursun Ali Eğribaş started wrestling in 1947, while he was working as a janitor at the Feshane Wrestling Club in İstanbul. In addition to his bronze medal in Greco-Roman at the 1956 Melbourne Olympics, Eğribaş was the Mediterranean Games Greco-Roman flyweight champion in 1959 and won gold at the 1959 and bronze at the 1960 Balkan Games. He stopped competing in 1965 and taught wrestling at his club in Feshane, and worked in trade.
