Biography

Japanese basketball player Yoshitaka Egawa first represented Meiji University before joining Yawata Steel Works after graduation. From 1963 to 1969 Egawa also represented the Japanese national team. After competing at the 1963 World Championships he was named in Japan’s squad for the 1964 Tokyo Olympics, playing in nine matches and scoring 74 points. His best performances came at the Asian Championships where he won gold (1965), silver (1967), and bronze (1969). After his retirement Egawa worked as a coach with the national team.
