Although still a Norwegian national in 1904, Charles Ericksen represented the Brooklyn Norwegian Turnverein, an American club, at the St. Louis Olympics and won the gold medal in a closely fought bout with Bill Beckmann. Ericksen became active in sports administration and at his death was the president of the Scandanavian-American Athletic League.
