Biography

Larry Lauchle wrestled for the University of Pittsburgh, winnning the 1961 NCAA title at 130 lbs (59 kg). Lauchle also lost in the finals of the NCAAs twice. He was a two-time champion in the Eastern Intercollegiates, his only loss at that meet coming in the 1960 finals. In 1963 Lauchle won the World Military (CISM) championship. He served in the US Marines, coaching wrestling for four years. After leaving the service, Lauchle became head coach at the University of Pennsylvania for 18 years, and then was Associate Athletic Director, working at Penn for 34 years in all. He is a member of the Eastern Intercollegiate Wrestling Association (EIWA) Hall of Fame.
