Gerry Leeman attended Iowa’s Teacher College (later Northern Iowa). He won one AAU and one NCAA championship six years apart, but oddly the AAU title came first – in 1940. At the 1948 Olympics he was beaten only by the Turk, Nasuh Akar. Leeman then went into coaching and was the wrestling coach at Lehigh University for many years.
