Henk Schenk wrestled at the 1968 and 1972 Olympics for the United States. He was born in the Netherlands but raised in Oregon, where he was a high school state champion in 1963. He served in the Army after college, winning the 1966-67 Interservice Championships, also winning AAU titles both years. Schenk’s biggest international achievement was winning a bronze medal at the 1969 World Championships. He graduated from Oregon State University in 1963 and later started Hi-Tech Movers, leaving that job in 2003 when an injury mandated it. He then became a real estate broker in Oregon. Schenk’s cousin, back in the Netherlands, was Ard Schenk, one of the greatest ever speed skaters, who won three gold medals at the 1972 Winter Olympics.
