Biography
Cristina, Princess de Borbón was the niece of Princess Pilar de Borbón, president of the Fédération Équestre Internationale (FEI) 1994-2006. Her mother was a substitute on the Greek sailing team for 1960 as (then) Princess Sofia of Greece and Denmark. Cristina was at one time the Duchess de Palma Mallorca but that was removed by Royal Decree in June 2015 after a scandal involving her husband, Iñaki Urdangarín. Both Cristina and her husband were charged, along with others, in the famous “Nóos Case” which involved political scandal, embezzlement and money laundering. For his part in the scandal, Urdangarín was, in February 2017, sentenced to six years and three months imprisonment, whilst Cristina was cleared of all charges.
