Jarl Andstén was the son of a sea captain. He was a crew member of the Finnish yacht “Örn”. Although the boat placed third in both races of the 8 metres class at the Stockholm Olympics they missed the bronze medal race ranking fourth on accumulated points. His brother Curt was also a member of the crew. Jarl was briefly married to Viva Lydia Linnea Carstens.
