Biography

International sailor and coach Héber Ansorena was a member of the Uruguayan Yacht Club from 1974 until 1990. Ansorena began his yachting career in the late 1960s, becoming a pioneer of the sport in Uruguay. In 1988 he competed in the Soiling event at the Seoul Olympics with compatriots Horacio Carabelli and Luis Chiapparro, with the team finishing 16th. One month earlier the same crew had finished sixth at the North American Championships on Lake Michigan. From September 1993 to May 1994 Ansorena competed in the Whitbread Round the World Race onboard the maxi yacht Uruguay Natural.
