Don Cohan took up sailing relatively late in life, but he travelled the world in search of competition and experience and developed into one of America’s leading yachtsmen, being on the U.S. team at the World Championships in 1969,1970, and 1971. Cohan graduated cum laude from Amherst and then obtained his law degree from Harvard. Initially he practiced law before establishing his own real estate business. Cohan was a member of the Philadelphia Jewish Sports Hall of Fame, and was awarded the Senatorial Medal of Freedom. He also served as President of JVES Human Services, and was on the Directors Leadership Council of the University of Pennsylvania Abramson Cancer Center.
