Jean d'Estournelles de Constant

Jean d’Estournelles de Constant competed in several different sailing events at the 1900 Paris Olympics. He was the son of Louis Benjamin Léonce Balluet, Baron d’Estournelles de Constant and Henriette Monnyer. His brother became quite famous, as Paul Henri Benjamin Balluet d’Estournelles de Constant won the 1909 Nobel Peace Prize, notably for “for [his] prominent position in the international movement for peace and arbitration”.

Jean d’Estournelles de Constant was Chief of the Bureau of Public Instruction in the Fine Arts, was a vice-president of the Committee on Patronage for the Museum of the Légion d’Honneur, and was director of the National Museum and School of the Louvre. In July 1925 he was made a commander of the Légion d’Honneur.
