Austrian sailor Michael Farthofer was a member of the soling team at the 1984 Los Angeles Summer Olympics. He partnered brothers Christian and Richard Holler, and the team finished 15th out of 22. In 1981, Farthofer won the European Championships, also partnering Christian Holler.
Fahrthofer studied business administration and sports science at the University of Vienna. He completed his education as a plant manager in Vienna and Salzburg in 1997. Farthofer also completed further training as a certified quality manager in Linz in 2004. After several years as a managing partner, he continued his career as a managing partner at Bilton International in 2017.
