Biography

Robbie Haines won seven World Championships in four different classes of boats, starting with Soling World titles in 1979 and 1983. At the 1984 Olympics he skippered the team that won the gold medal in Soling. He was a 12-time contestant in the Trans-Pacific race from Los Angeles to Hawai’i, twice setting the course record (1997, 1999). Haines later entered the movie world when he was associate producer and sailing team manager for the Walt Disney film Morning Light. Haines graduated from San Diego State in 1983.
