Biography

Pekka Hartwall graduated from a Swedish school in Helsinki and studied there at the Polytechnic University until 1897. Three years later he married Amalie “Nille” Erneste Rudolfine (née William-Jörgensen). The couple got two daughters and one son. He worked for several companies including the Borgström Tobacco Factory. In 1908 he became chairman of the board of the family business, a mineral water and soft drink company.

He was a crew member of the Finnish boat “Heatherbell” that placed third and last in both races of the 12 metres class at the Stockholm Olympic Games in 1912. With only three yachts competing, the crew still took bronze.
