Tore Holm was the brother of Yngve Holm, who was a member of his crew in 1920. Tore participated as helmsman in a total of five Olympic Games, from 1920-48, and won two gold (1920, 1932) and two bronze medals (1928, 1948). He failed to medal at the 1936 Olympics, placing fourth after a disqualification in race six. In 1948 he secured the bronze medal despite another disqualification and a damaged rig.
In 1922, Holm graduated from the Stockholm Technical University as a civil engineer. He ran the most productive shipyard in Sweden, which he had inherited from his father in the early 1930s. Tore designed his successful Olympic boats Bissbi and Sif and many others.
