Biography
David James grew up in Newport News, Virginia, where he graduated from Matthews High School in 1968. He later attended Christopher Newport College, graduating in 1972. He sailed Flying Dutchman at the 1968 Mexico City Olympics alongside his older brother, Robert James. James represented the Yacht Haven Club.
