Sailor Ulf Lehmann partnered Stefan Mädicke in the Flying Dutchman class at the 1988 Seoul Olympics representing East Germany, and they finished ninth. The following year the pair won the silver medal at the European Championships, and in 1996 won the World Championships. Lehmann won the East German national title in 1978, 1985, and 1988.
Lehmann later studied sports science at the Deutsche Hochschule für Körperkultur in Leipzig and became a graduated sailing coach. He later became national youth coach for the 470 class.
