Biography

Finnish sailor Matti Paloheimo was a three-time national champion, winning twice in the Dragon class (1968, 1973) and once in the Soling class (1975). His strong domestic performances earned Paloheimo a place on the national team, with him competing at multiple international regattas. He competed at the World Championships in the Dragon, placing seventh in 1972 and tenth in 1970. In 1976 Paloheimo competed in the Soling class at the Montréal Olympics with compatriots Matti Jokinen and Reijo Laine. After placing seventh in the opening race, the Finnish crew had a string of disappointing results to place 18th overall.
