Biography

At Wichita University in the early 30s, Frank Johnson played football, basketball, and pole vaulted and ran hurdles for the track team. He earned three letters all three years of varsity competition. After his 1934 graduation, he played AAU basketball with the Globe Refiners for two years, winning a national championship and making the Olympic team while with them in 1936. He then played three more years of AAU ball, winning another national title in 1938 with the Healey Motors team. Johnson worked most of his life with the John Deere Company and also became a noted rancher, raising Apaloosa horses. His ranch eventually produced 15 national or world champions.
