Herbert Reich sailed with the 5.5 m class at the 1964 Summer Olympics at Enoshima Island on Sagami Bay. The crew placed fifth. Reich was one the most prominent sailors on Starnberger See near München. He later donated the so-called “Enoshima Trophy”, which was regularly awarded to sailors at special competitions with historical Olympic boats.
