Frank Smith was one of the 3-man crew aboard Sibindi that finished fourth in the 6-metre class at the 1908 Olympics. Making up the crew was Sibindi’s owner John Leuchars, and his son Wilfrid. Smith and his fellow crewmen were in the silver medal position after races one and two, but a fourth-place finish in the third and final race, put them out of the medals. Like all the other members of the crew, Smith was a member of the Royal Clyde Yacht Club, which happened to be the venue for the 12-metre event at the 1908 Games.
