A 1953 graduate of the University of Kansas, Dean Kelley went on to play for four years with the Peoria Cats. At the 1955 Pan American Games he won gold with the US team, he and Bob Kenney were the only Olympians on the team. Kelley also began working with the Caterpillar Tractor Co., which sponsored that team, and spent most of his business career with them.
