Erik Wiik-Hansen was a crewman in the Dragon Class (Three-Person Keelboat) in Acapulco at the 1968 Olympics. Together with helmsman Teddy Sommerschield and Jan-Erik Aalberg, the boat finished in 12th place. Wiik-Hansen was one of the spokesmen for the Norwegian Sport Sailing Association, and Norges Seilforbund was founded in 1970. He was a council member from 1972-74, and was engaged in local politics in his home municipality of Asker. Wiik-Hansen also worked hard to realize his dream of a wooden boat museum, with The Oslofjord Museum opening in Vollen, Asker in 2013, five years after his death.
