Danish sailor Henning Wind represented Hellerup Sejlklub in Gentofte, where he competed in the Finn class. In August 1964 Wind won silver in the event at the European Championship in København to earn himself a place on the Olympic team. Two months later he went on to win bronze at the Tokyo Olympics, recovering after a couple of poor results in the first two races to climb up the leaderboard and into medal contention. Wind also had the honour of being the flagbearer for Denmark at the Opening Ceremony.
Four years later Wind won gold at the Finn World Championships in Whitstable, England, in addition to taking silver at the European Championships in Medemblik, the Netherlands. He returned to the Olympics for the Mexico City Games, but could only manage to place 18th overall. In 1975 he founded his own company to manufacture dinghies from high-quality fiberglass, with the business later relocating to Spain.
