Biography

Carlos Hofmeister was an Argentine track and field athlete who represented River Plate in Buenos Aires. As a specialist in sprinting, Hofmeister was selected to compete in the 200 metres and the 4 × 100 metres relay at the 1932 Los Angeles Olympics, but did not start in either race. Four years later, however, he did compete at the Olympics when he ran in the same two events at the Berlin Games. He reached the quarter-finals in the 200 metres and just missed out on a medal in the relay, with the Argentine quartet finishing fourth. In 1937 Hofmeister won gold in the 200 metres and silver in the 4 x 400 metres relay at the South American Championships in Athletics in São Paulo, Brazil.

Personal Bests: 100 – unknown; 200 – 21.4 (1936).
