Basketball player Christoph Körner represented West Germany at the 1984 Los Angeles Olympics, finishing eighth. In total, he won 77 international caps. Domestically, he played with Schalke 04 (until 1980) and then for TuS Bayer 04 Leverkusen, helping them to win the national title in 1985 and 1986, along with the German cup in 1986. Körner married national basketball player Christina Szafarczyk, and their daughter Pauline also became a professional in the sport.
