Elfriede Steurer was Austrian champion in the 100 metres (1948, 1952), 200 metres (1954), 4×100 metres relay (1943, 1954), and 80 metres hurdles (1943-1948, 1950, 1953-54). At the 1950 European Championships she was eliminated in the first round of the 80 metres hurdles and four years later was eliminated in the semi-finals of the 80 metres hurdles and in the first round of the 4×100 relay (with non-Olympians Trude Wareka, Elfriede Geist, and Friedrike Harasek).
Steurer participated in the 1948 London and 1952 Helsinki Olympics. With the 4x100 metres relay she came sixth in London and was eliminated in the semi-finals of the 80 metres hurdles. In 1952, she was eliminated in the heats of both the 100 metres and 80 metres hurdles.
Personal Bests: 100 – 12.1 (1954); 80H – 11.4 (1952).
