Austrian long-distance runner Karl Hack qualified for the 1912 Olympics when he won the marathon Kagran-Gänserndorf-Süssenbrunn (40.2 km) in a time of 3-08:01.6 on 9 June 1912. This was also his only Austrian title. At the 1912 Stockholm Olympics he did not finish the marathon race. He was also scheduled for the 5,000 and 10,000 metres but did not start for unknown reasons.
