Edward Lee was the son of Filipino timber tycoon Li Qingquan who came from Shizhen village in the Fujian province. He was a player on the overseas Chinese “Qunsheng” basketball team and later joined the “Seven Tigers” team in Chinese Taipei. Lee represented Chinese Taipei at the 1948 London Olympics. Unfortunately, although considered a key player, he missed the first game due to illness. At the 1954 Asian Games in Manila, Lee won a silver medal with Chinese Taipei’s team and placed fifth at the 1954 World Basketball Championships. After retiring as a competitive player, he lived in the Philippines until his death.
