Biography

Middle- and long-distance runner Volker Tulzer was Austrian champion in 800 metres (1965, 1967, 1970), cross country-long (1962, 1963, 1965, 1966), 4×400 relay (1970), and 3×1000 relay (1961, 1972). In 1964, Tulzer was selected for the Tokyo Olympics. He ran the heats over 1,500 metres but could not qualify for the second round.

Tulzer later became a teacher of sports and geography, and then head of the training instructor department at the Institute of Sports Science at the University of Wien (Vienna).

Personal Best: 1500 – 3:42.2 (1963).
