Biography

Gérard Noël was a Belgian track and field athlete who won 18 medals in the 1920s and 1930s at the national championships, including three golds. As an all-round athlete Noël represented RFC Liège where he excelled in the high jump, pole vault, and the hurdles. His three Belgian titles all came in the high jump when he won the event in 1927, 1930, and 1931. He also won a silver in 1925 along with four bronze medals (1922, 1928, 1932–33). Noël won silver in the 110 metres hurdles in 1926 and silver in the pole vault in 1932. At the 1928 Amsterdam Olympics he finished in 14th place in the pole vault and 27th place in the decathlon.
