Biography

Rolph Barnes was a Canadian track and field athlete who specialised in middle-distance running. Barnes ran in the 1,500 metres at the 1924 Paris Olympics where he just missed out on the final after finishing third in his heat. Rolph’s father William also competed at the 1924 Paris Games, winning a silver medal in shooting in the team trap event. William, who owned a quarrying business, died in 1925, passing on the family business to Rolph.
