Éd Fabre won the 1915 Boston Marathon, and placed in the top 10 at Boston seven times between 1911 and 1922. He last ran Boston in 1928 and then turned professional. In 1930 he won the professional Usher Green Stripe Snowshoe Marathon, a race from Québec City to Montréal. During his career he competed in over 300 long-distance races in Canada. In 1937 he suffered a stroke which left him paralyzed on the left side, and he died from a second stroke two years later.
