Biography

Billy Kibblewhite’s showing at the trials for the 1928 Amsterdam Olympics made him a surprise selection to represent Canada at the Games. Although he was entered into the 3000 metres steeplechase and the 5000 metres track events, he only started in the latter, and was eliminated in round one. He was, however, the national three-mile champion that year. Although he never again attended the Games, he continued competing at the University of Toronto, from which he graduated in 1936. The following year, he earned a graduate degree in theology from the institution’s associated Wycliffe College, and he was ordained into the priesthood in 1938. He died at the age of 41 following complications from an operation.

Personal Best: 5000 – 15:50.0 (1928).
