Arthur Maranda discovered his athletic talents in the 1910s while working as a police officer, a job that he took up in 1907 with the City of Maisonneuve, which was later annexed by Montreal. His success in police games led him to be selected to represent Canada at the 1912 Stockholm Olympics. There, he was 17th, 20th, and 28th in the standing long jump, triple jump, and long jump respectively. Although this was the highlight of his career, he continued to compete in track and field, as well as in snowshoe races, into the 1920s. During that time, he also climbed the ranks of the police force until he was appointed Chief of the Sherbrooke, Quebec police force in 1939.
Personal Bests: LJ – 7.02 (1913); TJ - 13.79 (1922).
